Sone is hands in Korean. Catherine Kim creates handmade jewelry art conceptualized from travels and experiences. Following traditional art making, she observes and records ordinary objects. Through making they become removed from their original purpose and intentionally ambiguous to create a new point of view. The jewelry objects are minimal, playful and artfully designed.

Catherine was born in Seoul, Korea and raised in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating from UCLA Department of Art and Architecture she worked as a jewelry designer before attending the Vermont Studio Center art residency. She lived in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago for 9 years. Those 9 years were well spent making art and jewelry and traveling the region and throughout Europe. Her adventure continues in the mountains of Forest Falls, CA where she makes her jewelry art under Sone.
